What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-Person College Advisor position at Passport Admissions?
College Admissions Advisor
“I got into my dream school. I couldn’t have done it without you!”
These phone calls are the best part about our work at Passport Admissions. And if you join our team, we know you’ll come to love them too–both the phone calls and the people who make them.
Do you have experience working in college admissions, but you’re ready for a change? Want to be part of guiding instead of gate-keeping? Wouldn’t you love the chance to change the lives of young people seeking an educational opportunity?
You might be the advising extraordinaire we seek!
For the past 17 years, Passport Admissions has guided our applicants to successful admission at the schools of their dreams. As an Advisor, you will join a small band of passionate people who work together to guide applicants through the application process around the country by in-person meetings and video conferences.
We have a rock star Administrative Team running the enterprise: a Director of Operations to make sure that our applicants are well taken care of, a Director of Marketing to help spread the word on social media, and a talented team of Editors and Advisors to share the energy and cumulative knowledge of the application process. By supporting applicants and each other as a team, we allow you to be the expert at what you know best: the application process to college.
We guarantee this will be the best part-time job you’ve ever had. Here are just a few of the reasons why:
Job Perks:
- Impactful work with interesting students (we call them students with personality) and a chance to help them achieve their dreams.
- Flexible hours: 10-20 hours/week–some afternoon/evening/weekend work required, but you can set your own schedule for number of hours and specific days
- Work from wherever: in-person meetings take place in San Diego, in addition to remote work anywhere you want!
- Good pay: $60-$80 an hour for work with students, $25 an hour for training and prep work
- Extensive training and support from a close-knit team
Advisor Responsibilities:
- To delight and manage a load of approximately 10-15 applicants at a time who are applying to college
- To maintain your expertise by reading relevant blogs, articles, and professional publications
- To respond promptly to students, prospects, and staff within one business day
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- B.A. or B.S. (Required)
- Previous college admissions committee experience (Strongly preferred)
- High level of motivation to help students achieve their dreams
- Expert fluency in English grammar and style
- Ability to work independently
