POSITION Sanitation Lead
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The FDA Sanitation Lead is a working Lead, responsible for assisting the sanitation manager in the cleaning
of the FDA processing equipment to manufacture quality product in the FDA processing area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The sanitation Lead, leads and perform in the following requirements:
- Manual Cleaning with hand tools. brushes off flour, scrapes dough residue, dry sweeps the flour from the floor and area.
- Must be able to work with compressed air and using air wand and ear protection.
- Must be able to use vacuums, brushes, brooms, dust pans, scrappers, towels, mop
- Able to use mild chemicals (alkaline cleaner and sanitizers, quat, alcohol and PAA).
- Must be able of dry scraping and dry cleaning of dough mixers and small kettles
- Must be mechanically inclined and able to dismantle machine covers in order to dry clean the flour from hard-to-reach areas on rollers and equipment.
- Must perform damp and wet wipe downs of food surface equipment.
- Detail wipe clean of doors, food process equipment, electrical panels, windows, storage racking and machines.
- Must be able to scrape dough and dry flour from the dough lines from niches, belting and conveying systems
- Will sweep floor in the area and in the warehouses, exterior and as well as aisles.
- Dry Clean equipment and sanitize.
- Dry clean equipment and move these to organize areas clean.
- Wash sinks, tools and utensils in the cleaning room by the chemical cage.
- Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) in order to wash clean equipment and facility at a microbiological level.
- Follow Master Sanitation Schedule of tasks assigned
- Must be aware of all lock-out/tag-out procedures used in compliance with Cal-OSHA standards.
- Completes chemical training and maintain an understanding of SDS and safety procedures.
- Completes cleaning duties as assigned by the Manager or Lead.
- Breaks down and dismantles equipment parts, washes these and cleans area.
- Uses a sanitizer for wipe downs of equipment and other surfaces
- Must be able to scrub clean and follow the 7-Steps of Wet Cleaning.
- Adheres to all company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Safety policies.
- Must wear sanitary lab coats at all times and change these when soiled.
- Must follow all proper Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), GDP, SSOP, Chemical training, non- food contact equipment (schedule training, Safety guidelines/Injury reporting/LOTO.
- Filling out documentation for ATP Swabs AS Needed., Titration Log conduct daily per shift, Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) updates to the master schedule for the weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly per shift.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prevent cross contamination of product, work-in-progress, raw material, food contact surfaces and food contact packaging during cleaning-sanitation procedures
- Assigns and coordinates work assignments of the sanitation Technicians on the FDA area.
- Notifies the Supervisor of food safety issues and of safety issues.
- Is aware of use of all lock-out/tag-out procedures used in compliance with Cal-OSHA standards.
- Completes performs cleaning duties as assigned by the Manager or other supervisors
- Under no circumstance is the sanitation Technician allowed to clean bathrooms and or cafeteria when performing the functions in the USDA Rooms or the FDA Lines.
- Technician shall use white hoses and used appropriately for cleaning process equipment only.
- Assist with plant audits as needed.
- Ensure security of all sanitation chemicals located on premises by limiting access and monitoring/preventing leaks, spills, etc.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
- Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policy.
- Maintain all sanitation related equipment including but not limited to vacuums, cleaning equipment and tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Will follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) in order to clean equipment and facility at a microbiological level.
- Will improve sanitation processes by reducing use of resources (i.e. water, wastewater, chemicals, labor) whenever possible.

Physical Requirements
- The sanitation technician is required to work in an environment that is dusty, and extreme temperature changes, from very cold to room temperature constantly.
- Required to work in dirty, dusty, flour, wet, slippery and soiled environment constantly.
- Will work high noise level constantly.
- Will work with and use corrosive alkaline chlorinated chemicals, acids, quaternary ammonia, alcohol, peracetic acid and ethanol sanitizers constantly.
- Lift to 50 lbs. throughout the shift occasionally.
- Standing or walking through the entire shift constantly.
- Bending and stooping constantly
- Pushing and pulling occasionally.
- Climbing ladders and stairways constantly.
- Will operate wet and pneumatic cleaning equipment, safely and efficiently. constantly
- Work in confined spaces occasionally.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY
- Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP’s and SQF requirements.
- Adheres to all federal, state and county regulatory requirements.
- Adheres to all federal, state and county labor laws.
- Adheres to all food industry requirements on Organic and conventional
- Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Production Manager or Supervisor, Q.A. Department or Management.
- Attends Food Safety/Quality training sessions

- Ability to be an independent thinker and find solutions to problems.

- The Lead is required to work weekends.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects
- Language needed- must be able to speak, read and write English-
- Bilingual English & Spanish preferred but not required.
