Summary:
Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as filling, or packing, containers by performing the following duties.
Duties:
Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine.
Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as setting speed, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product containers.
Weighs product to ensure accurate weight.
Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and unloads packaged product.
Replenishes packaging supplies such as plastic bags, boxes, cartons, tape, or labels.
Adheres to all food safety regulations by following GMP’s, HACCP and SSOP’s.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
