EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT UPON COMPLETING AND PASSING PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREEN
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for managing the human resource functions. Core competencies include excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and good judgment. The ability to maintain confidentiality, while providing excellent service to employees and management is essential. The incumbent must have excellent organizational skills to coordinate employment, termination, benefit and compensation documentation. This position shares responsibility for maintaining Pasta Montana’s food safety, quality and legality program under the BRC guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Human Resource Manager has direct supervisory responsibility for the following positions: People Operations Assistant/Payroll Clerk and Human Resource Assistant/Payroll Clerk.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
2. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
3. Partners with Management to understand and execute human resources and talent as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention.
4. Provides support and guidance to leadership, management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
5. Reviews and updates job descriptions in coordination with Department Managers and Leadership.
6. Assists Payroll Clerk with processing and submitting accurate bi-weekly payroll.
7. Maintains labor/payroll records and employee files in accordance with local, state and federal law. Files and records employee changes/documentation in employee files.
8. Responsible for employee recruitment; drafts and posts open positions. Assists department managers with application review and interviews.
9. Assists with the coordination of employment and termination process, record keeping, correspondence, reporting and filing.
10. Responsible for company benefit plan shopping and policy reviews as well as managing all issues regarding employee benefits. Enroll employees in company benefit plans, following plan(s) regulations.
11. Performs complex administrative duties, which involve exposure to sensitive information necessitating considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment. Maintaining confidentiality is essential.
12. Meets with employees to discuss Human Resource issues. Documents and communicates the issues with pertinent Management and Chief Operating Officer and/or Executive Vice President.
13. Direct managerial role of the People Operations Assistant/Payroll Clerk and the Human Resource Assistant/Payroll Clerk.
14. Assists staff in coordinating meeting logistics (including offsite meetings, conference calls and internal staff meetings); assists with agenda preparation; gathers information; prepares materials; contacts meeting participants; assists with travel arrangements.
15. Responsible for the corporate files and safe.
16. Coordinates social events, including corporate dinners, holiday parties and monthly birthdays in cooperation with the People Operations Assistant.
17. Coordinates employee training in cooperation with the People Operations Assistant.
18. Responsible for maintaining and revising the Employee Handbook, the Drug and Alcohol Policy, and employee Job Descriptions.
19. Acts as Company Drug and Alcohol Policy Coordinator.
20. Leads the Safety Committee.
21. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education: 2-years post-secondary education in business, human resources, accounting, or equivalent qualifications (4-year degree preferred).
Minimum Experience: 5-years experience in human resources. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to work independently and efficiently, and be able to handle multiple priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to act with integrity and professionalism. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Able to work cooperatively with management, co-workers, and agencies in a confidential manner.
Other Qualifications: Proficient in the use of computer-automated systems, Microsoft Suite, HRIS and automated payroll systems including spreadsheets, accounting systems, and databases.
