Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inspector to join our team. As an HQS Inspector your responsible for conducting physical inspections of rental properties. The inspections are conducted to ensure that the properties meet the health and safety Housing Quality Standards established by HUD. The HQS Inspector is responsible for inspecting privately owned rental properties participating in the Housing Choice Voucher program (section 8). The HQS Inspector is also responsible for preparing written documentation of all deficient inspection items and issuing appropriate solutions for compliance. As an Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that meet quality standards and adhere to specifications. Your role will involve conducting inspections, collecting data, and analyzing results to ensure compliance with regulations.
Scope of Work:
· Must be a certified HQS Inspector within 6 months (training provided).
· Develop and maintain a good rapport and positive image with present landlords/participants as well as potential landlords/participants to the program.
· Conduct move-in, annuals and reinspection's in compliance with the Section 8 Program.
· Be proficient with ipad and NSPIRE to Inform landlord and tenant of any "failed" items and of the time frame for making necessary corrections.
· Encourage tenants and owners to maintain units to Housing Quality Standards (HQS) as a minimum.
· Documents inspections in system through detailed notes and uploads photos to file management system in an organized and timely manner.
· Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager.
Location: Must be able to pick up and drop off work each day in west haven CT , and travel throughout CT for inspections.
Qualifications: Associate’s degree preferred but not required. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Detail oriented. Computer skills are a must. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle for work-related travel.
