We currently have an opening for a Site Safety Supervisor (SSHO).
Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining files for task execution, site safety oversight, hazard identification, maintaining reference documents, attending project meetings, and project performance. Will be required to travel between Albuquerque location and various jobsites, including Alamogordo, NM.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that subcontractor conducts daily tailgate safety meetings to disseminate information to project personnel necessary to accomplish each day’s activities to make sure that subcontractor provides a copy of the tailgate sign in sheet;
Monitor all activities by project personnel to include subcontractors and document site progress;
Review, accept and implement the APP, project support plans and AHAs prior to submittal;
Provide on-site decision making to perform all operational tasks according to specifications;
Provide administrative support, supervision, and management of contractor and subcontractor personnel, equipment, and materials;
Conduct incident and accident investigations and prepare the required reports;
Attend pre-construction conference and meetings associated with project progress and standings;
Troubleshoot unique field health and safety issues and provide feedback and suggestions;
Maintain the APP, safety-related support plans, AHAs, and other applicable site-specific safety reference material on the project site;
Inspect on-site safety and health equipment to ensure proper operation and accuracy;
Inspect field activities;
Coordinate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies for Pate personnel;
Maintain a safety and health deficiency system tracking system that monitors recognized deficiencies until they are resolved;
Be responsible for ensuring all personnel entering the site have the proper training and/or security access; and
Perform safety management, surveillance, inspections, and enforcement.
Additional Duties:
Acts as designee of the Health and Safety Director to enforce and implement the company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures;
Has the responsibility and authority to stop work when unsafe conditions exist that expose personnel or property to risk, or when s/he observes work is not being performed to specifications. All stop work events shall be followed by a notification to the Corporate Health and Safety Director for discussion and follow-up; and
Temporarily suspend an individual from field activities for infractions of the APP, pending further consideration by the Health and Safety Director.
Experience/Qualifications:
5 years field experience as a full-time Safety Professional with knowledge of Construction or Industrial Sectors
Completed OHSA 30 hour Construction within 3 years prior
First Aid/CPR current
Knowledgeable of current safety trends, industry practices, and can exercise technical expertise
Ability to conduct risk assessments and audits
Strong communication skills for training and reporting
Proficiency in using safety management software and tools
