Paterson Community Health Center (PCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides a comprehensive roster of ambulatory healthcare services. PCHC is dedicated to making high-quality, affordable health care accessible to all residents of Passaic County, particularly those in our underserved communities.
How you can make an impact on our Patients’ Lives: As a nutritionist, you will counsel clients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits, including promoting nutrition to improve health and manage disease, especially diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and obesity. You will plan and conduct food service or nutritional programs to help people lead healthy lives.
What you will do:
Consult with providers to conduct nutrition assessments of patients referred for this service by healthcare providers.
Evaluate clients' nutritional and health needs, including their dietary restrictions and current health plans.
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) services.
Develop meal plans that are tailored to clients' needs and preferences.
Track the effects of clients' nutrition plans and make changes as needed.
Provide nutritional information and tips to clients and the public onsite and at Health and community events.
Stay current with nutrition and food science research and contribute to it when possible.
Record and monitor clients' progress and the effects of their nutrition plans.
Provide nutritional counseling and advice on healthy eating habits.
Promote healthy lifestyles by speaking to groups about nutrition and diet.
What you will bring:
Associate’s degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred in Nutrition and Dietetics, Home Science, or related field.
2-3 years of experience in outpatient nutrition or relevant areas.
Licensed with the State of New Jersey as a Registered Dietetic Technician or Registered Dietician or Dietary Manager Association or as applicable.
Attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to work closely with clients.
Bi-lingual preferred.
Strong research and analysis skills.
In-depth knowledge of different dietary allergies and restrictions.
An understanding of food science and how it affects health.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
