SUMMARY: The primary function of the EHR Support Specialist is to provide comprehensive support to clinicians and staff in the effective utilization of electronic health record (EHR) systems. Under the supervision of the IT Director, this role oversees day-to-day operations of both production and test EHR environments and serves as the main point of contact for EHR system users. Responsibilities include application support, form creation, system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and general IT support. The EHR Support Specialist must ensure adherence to HIPAA privacy and security standards, safeguarding all patient information.

Key Responsibilities
- EHR System Support
- Provide direct and indirect support for the EHR system, including form creation and troubleshooting to minimize clinical workflow disruptions.
- Collaborate with Operations, the Help Desk, and IT teams to triage issues, escalate when necessary, and document resolutions.
- Technical Maintenance & Optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the EHR system.
- Work closely with IT on configuration, optimization, and upgrades, including testing new features and patches.
- Escalate and track system issues with vendors for timely resolution.
- User Training & Assistance
- Offer daily support and consultation to EHR end-users, promoting best practices and optimal use.
- Create and manage support tickets; ensure issues are resolved promptly and comprehensively.
- Compliance & Security
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between end-users, the IT Director, and external vendors.
- Provide timely and clear communication on any EHR-related issues, concerns, or upgrades.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in cross-functional projects and training sessions as assigned.
- Contribute to general IT tasks and functions.
- Perform other duties as defined by the IT Director.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or four years of proven experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in IT support or a closely related role.
- Prior experience with EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable collaborating with diverse teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to change.
