JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Buyer to manage the procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies necessary for production. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting inventory accuracy and production planning.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Source and purchase raw materials, components, and indirect supplies based on production requirements and inventory levels.
· Review and analyze purchase requisitions for accuracy, completeness, and budget alignment.
· Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to optimize cost and performance.
· Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues related to quality or delivery, and escalate concerns when necessary.
· Maintain accurate purchase order records and ensure timely order placement and follow-up.
· Collaborate with production, scheduling, and inventory teams to forecast material needs and avoid shortages or overages.
· Evaluate and manage supplier relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
· Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or production timelines.
· Assist in inventory management, cycle counting, and ensuring material availability for production runs.
· Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
· Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
· Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Understanding of basic inventory control and production planning principles.
· Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Primarily a desk-based role with occasional walking or standing on the production floor.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., moving materials, samples, or documents).
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:
· PPE is required when entering production areas (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection).
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
· Must follow all company safety protocols and procedures when working in or around production areas.
