Key Responsibilities:
- CNC Machine Setup:
- Set up and calibrate CNC milling and turning machines (lathes) according to specified blueprints, drawings, or work orders.
- Install tooling, fixtures, and workpieces on machines.
- Ensure machines are properly aligned and adjusted for precise cuts and measurements.
- Machine Operation:
- Operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture parts with high precision.
- Monitor the machine’s performance, ensuring they are running efficiently.
- Perform trial runs to ensure programs are running correctly before full-scale production.
- Program Verification:
- Review CNC programs for accuracy and make adjustments as necessary to meet specifications.
- Modify programs on the machine control if needed to improve part quality or production time.
- Quality Control:
- Measure finished parts using tools like calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement devices.
- Ensure parts are produced to meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications.
- Inspect and verify dimensions, surface finish, and tolerance levels for conformance.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CNC machinery, tooling, and programs.
- Ensure machines are kept in optimal working condition, minimizing downtime.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to company policies, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure that parts meet required specifications.
- Communicate with supervisors or managers regarding production goals, machine issues, and improvements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of machine setups, part runs, and quality checks.
- Report any defects or discrepancies in parts or machinery to supervisors.
- Update job tickets and work logs for production tracking.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical degree or certification in CNC machining is preferred.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in CNC machining, with a focus on milling and lathe operations.
- Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, setup, and programming (G-code and M-code).
- Familiarity with various CNC mills and lathes, including tool changes and adjustments.
- Experience with measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) for precise measurements.
- Ability to troubleshoot machine and program issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Certifications (Optional): CNC programming certification, safety training.
