Withdrawal Management Technician
Position Classification: Non-exempt, full-time, with benefits (Medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K, paid sick days and vacations)
Accountable to: Program Director
County contracts mandate all Pathway Society employees to be fully vaccinated
Withdrawal Management Technician Position Description:
Pathway Society is seeking individuals with experience in working with substance use populations for it’s Withdrawal Management program. Wthdrawal Management technicians will provide direct care to clients under the direction of the facility’s Program Director. All Withdrawal Management technicians will be required to take up to 20 hours of training in withdrawal management protocols, state regulations, substance use conditions and the electronic health record.
Withdrawal Management Technician Primary Benefits:
Withdrawal Management Technician Primary Responsibilities:
- Support and care for clients in the detoxification process
- Conduct regular checks on clients’ physical & mental status and conduct regular and timely client safety and health checks per documented protocol
- Monitor client status with facility provided tools
- Take vitals at prescribed intervals
- Document client activity in charts & shift change logs
- Conduct medication room duties such as monitoring clients taking medication, logging medications in the electronic health record and storing medications using documented protocols
- Pick up medications/provide transportation if approved to do so
- Perform safety checks before client admission and ensure cleanliness of office and client areas, and perform activities related to bed management
- Perform urinalysis / breathalyzer tests as needed
- Assist with the paperwork for client admission & discharge from the program
- Perform other tasks related to client care as directed by the Nurse Practitioner

Qualifications
Withdrawal Management Technician Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Medical Assistant certification, Registered Drug & Alcohol Technician, Emergency Medical Technician or equivalent experience in a comparable setting
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and valid California Driver License
- Good judgment and ability to function in emergency situations
- Ability to work with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities and disabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, including excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and email in a Windows based PC
- Ability to work in a fast paced, intensive, client centered environment
- Ability to work full-time, weekends and nights (weekends & nights rotation available)
Physical Requirements
- Climbing; ascending or descending stairs, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Kneeling; bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching; bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Reaching; extending hand (s) and arms above head in any direction.
- Hearing; perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Lifting; able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds.
- Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures and viewing a computer terminal.
