Therapist LPHA Position Description:
Pathway Society is looking for either a Therapist II or Therapist I.
The Therapist II (Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts) is a licensed therapist providing direct-service treatment, education, and case management to Drug Medi-Cal beneficiaries; coordinates and ensures proper and efficient workflow processes are followed by clinicians; ensures treatment plans are completed in a timely fashion and created per numerous statutes and policies; works with the QI Manager and Director regarding quality initiatives and improvements; and facilitates client satisfaction at all levels of care. The Therapist II may also supervise the work of licensed therapists and certified counselors.
The Therapist I provides direct-service treatment, education, and case management to Drug Medi-Cal beneficiaries; coordinates and ensures proper and efficient workflow processes are followed by clinicians; ensures treatment plans are completed in a timely fashion and created per numerous statutes and policies; works with the QI Manager and Director regarding quality initiatives and improvements; and facilitates client satisfaction at all levels of care. A Therapist I may also supervise the work of certified counselors.
Therapist LPHA Primary Responsibilities:
- Licensed therapists (LPHA) may conduct independent mental health and SUD assessments; create treatment plans; provide individual, family, group psychotherapy; and deliver AOD counseling
- May provide clinical supervision of licensed therapists, certified, and registered AOD counselors
- Licensed therapists may diagnose and establish medical necessity for DMC beneficiaries and sign treatment plans in accordance with DHCS regulations
- Facilitate weekly treatment, process, and education groups based on evidence-based curriculum and observe and assist therapists and AOD counselors in group settings
- Conduct mental health assessments, discharge plans, and exit interviews to support client step-up or -down to different modalities of care
- Write thorough and goal-oriented client treatments plans, assessments and notes in accordance with current state and county regulations and statutes, and Pathway Society policies and procedures
- Conduct peer-review of counselor treatment plans and timelines under the direction of the Director of Clinical Standards and collaboration with QI Manager
- Conduct group clinical education and supervision where assigned to do so
- Ensure that all beneficiary treatment plans, notes, and files are sufficiently maintained to not exceed five percent billing disallowances under DHCS, Drug Medi-Cal post services payment compliance audits
- Coordinate/link clients to resources in the community and inner-agency referrals to other modalities within the County’s managed plan (e.g. primary care, EPS, etc.)
- Efficiently deliver services to groups and individuals per caseload and productivity guidelines
- Maintain client files in the electronic health record system
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to: client confidentiality (HIPAA and 42 CFR part 2), incidence reporting, non-discrimination in the provision of services, risk management policy and Pathway Society policies and procedures
- Attend all assigned trainings, education and staff enrichment activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Therapist LPHA Qualifications:
- Possess a master’s degree in behavioral science or mental health and a license (LMFT, LPCC or LCSW) in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences
- Minimum one year of behavioral health experience in mental health or SUD
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team in a mission-driven, values-based organization
- Experience facilitating groups, conducting assessments and providing individual counseling with adult populations who suffer from the effects of substance use and mental health diagnosis
- Able to flex work schedule to accommodate client mental health emergencies if necessary
- Must be able to adhere to State Department of Healthcare Services regulations and statutes regarding strict timelines pertaining to beneficiary treatment services
- Familiarity with ASAM assessment (American Society of Addiction Medicine) preferred
- Knowledge and sensitivity of the needs of individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders; understanding of basic substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation techniques; and general knowledge of community resources
- Ability to work effectively with people possessing different value systems, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, gender identities and preferences, language capabilities, and emotional and cognitive disabilities
- Utilize tact and diplomacy; exercise good judgment and respond calmly in emergency situations; able to work within a program structure, monitor and support developmental growth and the recovery process
- Basic computer knowledge/skills and the ability to maintain electronic client records system
- Provide client services orientation with a professional demeanor, positive attitude and able to problem solve as needed
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in the language spoken by clients
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification, annual TB test, and complete annual required trainings
- Must pass comprehensive background check and reference check: a valid driver license, current auto liability insurance and a clean driving record are preferred
Physical Requirements
- Climbing; ascending or descending stairs, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Kneeling; bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching; bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Reaching; extending hand (s) and arms above head in any direction.
- Hearing; perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Lifting; able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds.
- Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures and viewing a computer terminal.

Qualifications
Salary : $80,000 - $105,000
