    Job Purpose

    The Alcohol and Drug Counselor at Pathway to Recovery plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, client-centered treatment services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Utilizing the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria for assessment and treatment planning, this position supports clients through individual counseling, group therapy, and comprehensive care coordination, ensuring an integrated and holistic approach to recovery.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct individual counseling sessions, leveraging ASAM criteria to tailor interventions that address each client's specific stage of recovery and treatment needs.
    • Facilitate group therapy sessions, fostering an environment where clients can engage in shared learning and support, aligned with ASAM standards for group treatment.
    • Develop, review, and update comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with clients, utilizing the ASAM criteria to ensure plans are responsive to the client’s progress and evolving needs.
    • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and staff at Pathway to Recovery, as well as external partners, to ensure a continuum of care that adheres to ASAM levels of care criteria.
    • Maintain meticulous and timely documentation of all treatment activities, assessments, and plans, ensuring adherence to ASAM documentation standards as well as state and federal regulatory requirements.
    • Stay informed of the latest research, trends, and updates in the ASAM criteria and best practices in substance use disorder treatment to enhance service delivery.
    • Engage in continuous professional development opportunities to deepen understanding and application of ASAM standards in clinical practice.
    • Required Qualifications

    • Licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the state of Minnesota, with a comprehensive understanding of the ASAM criteria.
    • A minimum of two years of experience in substance use disorder counseling, with demonstrated proficiency in applying ASAM standards in clinical assessment, treatment planning, and implementation.
    • Strong capability in developing and executing treatment plans that align with ASAM criteria, and adapting therapeutic techniques to meet the diverse needs of clients.
    • Proven track record of meticulous documentation and record-keeping in compliance with ASAM, state, and federal guidelines.
    • Preferred Skills

    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating effective counseling and therapeutic interventions grounded in ASAM principles.
    • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring precise and timely documentation according to ASAM documentation standards.
    • Familiarity with a range of therapeutic models and interventions that align with ASAM treatment levels, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relapse prevention.
    • A commitment to client-centered care, prioritizing respect, sensitivity, and empowerment, while adhering to ASAM’s ethical guidelines for treatment.
