The Cook works with the staff and Director within the Rainbow End’s Learning Center daycare environment to prepare daily meals by following all health and nutrition guidelines. He/she will work within the program and curriculum for children from 6 weeks of age to school age. The cook will interact daily with children through instruction combined with daily routines and playtime. The goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and educational focused environment for all children within Rainbow’s End Learning Center.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare, organizes, and distributes the meals and snacks served on site and for field trips for program-based activities
- Implements the cycle menu in accordance with standards and guidelines to meet all nutritional regulations
- Focuses on aligning the menu with day-to-day activities and operations
- Ensures they are understanding and adhering to the special dietary needs of the individual children
- Maintaining inventory and purchase requests for food and supplies
- Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen, utensils, equipment, and food storage areas for health department standards
- Demonstrates adaptability to meet agencies changing demands such as short staffing, change due to new regulations, or enrollment changes.
- Responsible for relieving other staff for breaks, as needed.
- Responsible for the basic child care needs of each child in the classroom including assistance with dressing, toileting, tying shoes, regular hand washing, face clean, dry clothes and any other tasks associated with good personal hygiene, as needed.
