Category: Admin Support City: Dyersburg State: Tennessee Shift: 8 - Day (United States of America) Job Description Summary: Responsible for assisting the Manager with the overall operation of the consumer run Peer Support Center and the implementation of program goals and objectives. Under the supervision of the Manager and the Program Manager, the Peer Counselor is responsible for assigned shift with flexible requirements. Incumbent subject to over time and call back as needed to insure uninterrupted services of the program. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Participates in the planning, scheduling and implementing of program activities. Assists with maintenance of program records. Obtains ongoing training in peer counseling techniques. Provides support and appropriate referral to individual consumers. Provides safe transportation of consumers to and from the Peer Support Center and all related activities and trips as assigned by Manager. Prepares and maintains accurate records of the vans, maintains routine maintenance and cleanliness of the van and report all repairs needed to Manager. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager and Program Manager. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Must be a current or past consumer of mental health services with skills and proficiency in the principles, concepts and techniques of maintaining stability, as required by grant. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with a good driving record as shown by being insured by center’s insurance carrier. Must possess or be able to obtain a Class d-F Tennessee Driver’s License. Emergency behavior management training within 90 day orientation period and maintained throughout employment. CPR / BLS certification. EXPERIENCE: Must be able to be empathic and be able to help others achieve well-being. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledgeable of needs and desires of those with mental illness and be able to offer a supportive stance.
