Pathways Vermont Rosewood Cottage Peer Respite Support Staff -
Per Diem / Substitute
The Company : Pathways Vermont is a dynamic nonprofit agency committed to permanently ending homelessness and offering innovative mental health services through ongoing supportive social work.
The Program : Rosewood Cottage is a Peer Respite designed to serve individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Rosewood provides peer support in a homelike setting for up to 7 nights .
The Role : The Peer Support Staff is a member of the Rosewood community which focuses on essential house functions and being with guests . Peer Support Staff substitutes are scheduled as needed. Rosewood is staffed with 12 hour shifts . Day shifts are 8am to 8pm and night shifts are 8pm to 8am. Support Staff are expected to respond to a minimum of one shift every eight weeks .
Location : In person (Williston VT)
Schedule : Per Diem (As needed 7 Days a week)

Responsibilities :
Be with guests : non-judgmental, non-directive approach of providing support and availability
Engage in relationship building / rapport building with guests and provide service from a “choice” perspective as well as client centered, harm reduction, and strengths based approaches; including but not limited to social skills, wellness, assistance with any medications and housekeeping
Attend regularly scheduled meetings as assigned (at least 4 monthly)
Complete training annually as assigned
Maintain thorough understanding of Rosewood policies and procedures, including emergency protocol
Communicate to guests programmatic rules and expectations
Maintain records and other program documentation
Facilitate referrals to community services and activities
Regular household cleaning and maintenance
Attendance at the annual All Staff and Programmatic Retreats is an expectation of employment with Pathways Vermont, unless excused by the employee’s manager / HR. Retreats are held on workdays, during normal working hours, and are fully paid.

Qualifications :
Excellent communication, writing, and computer skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form relationships with marginalized individuals
Sound judgment and good problem solving skills including assessing risk factors
Ability to structure time, develop work priorities independently, and meet program expectations with regard to documentation
Ability to work weekends
Ability to work one shift every 8 weeks.
Ability to work effectively as part of the team
Ability to share one’s own personal transformative life experiences
Personal experience of psychosis / extreme states will be considered an asset
Willingness to self-reflect, learn, and practice new ways of being in relationships
Risk and discomfort tolerance
Working Conditions / Physical Demands :
Ability to ascend and descend stairs often required
Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, standing and lifting
Often meeting with persons in the community and / or visiting different businesses
Rarely running or moving at very swift speed to avoid emergency situation
Regular operation of a computer and other office machinery including frequent typing
Frequent talking and listening in participation of exchanging ideas through spoken word
Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
Frequent exposure to outside environmental conditions (all seasons)
Occasional exposure to high levels of noise
Compensation : 21.50 / Hour
