Patient First is a healthcare provider that offers a supportive work environment. We are seeking a Medical Assistant (Phlebotomist) to join our team in the Harrisburg, PA area.
Responsibilities:
- Locate patients and obtain vital signs through visual and auditory assessments.
- Triage patients based on their medical condition.
- Prepare patients for physicals and medical treatment by physicians and nurses.
- Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies electronically.
- Communicate patient symptoms and relay questions about lab or x-ray needs to nurses and physicians.
- Assist nurses and physicians with patient care and treatment.
- Handle physician and nurse requests in a timely and respectful manner.
- Sterilize and set up instruments for medical procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the washing machine and dryer lint trap.
- Receive and store medical supplies.
- Restock treatment rooms as needed.
- Report to the charge nurse before leaving at the end of the shift.
- Follow established policies and procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the treatment area.
- Participate in maintenance assignments as necessary.
- Use the electronic medical record system.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
Requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Have minimum typing experience.
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Have a minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician's office (preferred).
- Be able to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
- Be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Be willing to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
- Be able to prioritize tasks and deal with multiple responsibilities.
