JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Preschool of Learning Director is responsible for daily operations in accordance with state licensing regulations and operating policies. He/she will oversee Christian curriculum, market the program, manage the finances and budget, manage personnel (hire, assess and evaluate staff), and execute high standards of excellence. This position requires strong leadership qualities and an extensive knowledge of childcare management and early childhood education. In addition, the Preschool Director is responsible for maintaining control of the administrative, operational, financial, and logistical functions of the facility. Must possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to evaluate and problem solve in a professional manner. The ideal candidate will promote a positive image of the facility and have strong administrative and supervisory skills; strong organizational and management skills, a passion for providing quality care and education to children, and a talent for team building with strong interpersonal relationships with families and staff. In addition, the desired Preschool of Learning Director is an individual who has a mature relationship with Christ and can provide biblical leadership, spiritual accountability, and has an acute awareness of emotional intelligence tempered by the Holy Spirit. The Preschool Director will be under the supervision of the Preschool Administrator.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Fully embraces and acts in accordance with the vision of Patria Church to Seek the Lost, Teach the Found, and Send the Disciples.
  • Willing to fulfill the four values and pillars of Patria Church. We are Christ (Mission, Christ-Centered Driven), Community (Diversity, Kingdom Driven), Character (Leadership, Discipleship Driven), Commitment (Family Driven).
  • Embraces and executes a Neighborhood Groups philosophy of ministry.
  • Strictly adhere to California Licensing Title 22 compliance regulations.
  • Maintain the overall facility management procedures.
  • Adhere to established preschool philosophy, principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage annual budget and financial records; ensure all financial needs are met and profitability targets are realized; manage monthly tuition fees and record keeping.
  • Develop and implement a marketing/advertisement plan that creates interest in the preschool and promote strong enrollment.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Accounting System (Ramp, Sage Intacct, etc.) Brightwheel, and other electronic applications, used by the preschool.
  • Develop, maintain, and update personnel records and operational procedures for the preschool.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.
  • Report evidence of suspected abuse or neglect.
  • The director is the primary contact person for parents/guardians on enrollment, assimilation, progress, and all other matters pertaining to the preschool.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the student enrollment process; ensuring students have a smooth transition into their classroom.
  • Responsible to establish a direct line of communication with parents, via emails, phone calls, personal meetings, parent/staff meetings, conferences, notices, etc.
  • Provide families with information and resources related to the development of a preschool child.
  • Communicate with parents regarding behavioral concerns, injuries or other incidents that occur during the school day.
  • Conduct student assessments.
  • Maintain a positive environment that demonstrates mutual respect among all staff members.
  • Partner with Human Resources to recruit, establish interview panel, and hire staff.
  • Implement staff development training in classroom management practices.
  • Continuously provide team building activities; establish and encourage dialogue that promotes innovative ideas; establish a culture of unity and harmony among the staff.
  • Stimulate a philosophy of ongoing learning that fosters an appetite for new creative and innovative classroom management practices.
  • Create staff scheduling, breaks and lunches.
  • Train and develop teaching staff to support the implementation of the established research-based curriculum, Teaching Strategies’ The Creative Curriculum® throughout the Daily Schedule.
  • Regularly review early childhood education trends for possible implementation.
  • Oversee and review nutrition delivery system.
  • Visit off site campuses to ensure uniformity of philosophy, principles, policies and procedures and educational practices are aligned with the homesite campus.
  • Effectively cast vision to staff to execute alignment of future Abundant Preschool of Learning facilities.

Qualifications


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Able to successfully complete background investigation and drug screen.
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software. Microsoft Suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • In-depth knowledge, demonstration, and execution of Patria Church vision & values, culture, ministry functions, processes, and procedures.
  • AA/AS degree in Early Childhood Education (or 60 Units) which includes:
  • 24 Units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (including core courses: Child/Human Growth & Development; Child, Family & Community; Curriculum)
  • Completion of an additional 3 Units in Infant and Toddler Care.
  • Completion of an additional 2 Units in ECE/CD adult supervision.
  • Completion of an additional 3 Units in ECE/CD administration.
  • Able to successfully complete background investigation and drug screen.
  • Possession and maintenance of a California Child Development Permit (Site Supervisor or higher).
  • Knowledge of Title 22
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Educational Rating Scale (ECERS).
  • Knowledge of Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) and/or Teaching Strategies Gold.
  • Knowledge of Toddler Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS).
  • Knowledge of Pre-K Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS).
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software. Windows based software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proof of current TB Clearance, MMR immunization, Tdap immunization, and Influenza vaccination.  *The Influenza vaccination may be declined with a signed statement.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to successfully complete background investigation and drug screen.
  • Mentally reacts appropriately and immediately in unexpected circumstances.
  • Required to stand up to 95% of the workday.
  • 4 – 6 years of work experience as an Early Childhood Educator

 

 

PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any field. *Preferred Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, or closely related field:
    • 24 Units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (including core courses: Child/Human Growth & Development; Child, Family & Community; Curriculum).
    • Completion of an additional 6 Units in Infant and Toddler Care.
    • Completion of an additional 2 Units in ECE/CD Adult Supervision.
    • Completion of an additional 6 Units in ECE/CD Administration.
  • 350 days of experience at 3 hours per day within 4 years, including at least 100 days of supervising adults.
  • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies’ The Creative Curriculum®
  • Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP).
  • Possession and maintenance of a California Child Development Director Permit.
  • Possession and maintenance of Toddler Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Observer Certification.
  • Possession and maintenance of Pre-K Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Observer Certification.
  • Completion of 21 hours of professional growth annually.
  • Child Care Center Operations and Recordkeeping Orientation.
  • Possession and maintenance of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Certificate.
  • Possession and maintenance of San Bernardino County Food Handlers Card.
  • Possession and maintenance of Adult/Child/Infant First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

 

 

JOB SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:

  • Ability to correct all areas deemed hazardous to the welfare of children.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Educational Rating Scale (ECERS) and Desired Result Developmental Profile (DRDP) curriculum.
  • Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR training, Emergency Medical Services Authority Health, and Safety Certification (EMSA) – approved in California and current TB test.
  • Ability to lift or move average weight of up to fifty pounds in awkward or difficult positions (such as to prevent accidental injury to a child).

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL AND SPIRITUAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Always demonstrate Christ-centered behavior by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity.
  • Member of the Patria Church (or willing to transfer membership to Patria Church).
  • Pastors are required to attend all regularly scheduled Sunday and Wednesday church services. Support staff must attend at least one (1) regularly scheduled weekend church service.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events. This includes serving at Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas services as well as the annual volunteer appreciation event.
  • Regular involvement in Patria Church activities, ministries, neighborhood groups, and events.
  • Tithe 10% to Patria Church.
  • Signed acknowledgment of the Patria Church’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to Patria Church’s policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
  • Be self-motivated and goal oriented, use good judgment, and be flexible and innovative.
  • Professional attitude and demeanor.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
