Patrick & Henry Community College is seeking a professional and team-oriented individual committed to the mission of the comprehensive community college with experience working with a diverse student population, including adult learners and at-risk students. The successful candidate will teach engineering and electronics courses included in the Industrial Electronics Technology and General Engineering Technology programs. Other duties include mentoring engineering students while demonstrating genuine interest in the general welfare of all students; proposing and scheduling courses with the approval of the Dean to ensure students progress through the program in an orderly and timely sequence; promoting program recruitment and retention strategies; maintain the technical competencies necessary for the job function; maintain a professional attitude toward teaching and professional relationships; ensure compliance with all policies and procedures of the College and the Virginia Community College System; create a student-oriented learning environment; evaluate student learning in assigned courses; advise students; and assist with student job placement. In addition, instructors are responsible for additional hours of student engagement, maintaining office hours, and attending faculty meetings. Responsibilities may include work during the day and/or evening classes for program-placed students and non-curricular students, as well as distance learning programs.
- Mentor adjunct faculty as appropriate by sharing information, advice, and materials.
- Establish and maintain the necessary industry-recognized instructor and program certifications and accreditations.
- Curriculum review of program courses; revise/update course content as necessary.
- Partner with local manufacturers and area industries for a better understanding of their applicable needs, and transfer those needs into the program curriculum.
- Responsibilities encompass all classes assigned, committees assigned, or other activities agreed upon between faculty members and administration.
- Represent the advanced manufacturing program in a variety of public forums to include educational, workforce development, professional and policy-making arenas, and other duties as assigned.
