Patriot has an opening for an experienced Lab Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating or managing the activities of a Construction or Geotechnical materials laboratory (testing includes materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry and asphalt). This includes ensuring that the laboratory testing services are conducted in a safe manner and consistent with company quality protocols, project requirements, and in a timely manner. The Lab Manager will oversee or coordinate the maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory and testing equipment and high quality services. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Performs accurately all tests described in the laboratory standard operating procedures. The standard tests include Index Testing for soils such as Atterberg limits, gradation, loss on ignition, swell tests and moisture contents.
• Works closely with the Construction Materials Engineering and / or Geotechnical staff on delivering quality testing procedure and results.
• Has working knowledge of the relevant ASTM’s and their requirements.
• Manage the data generated from these tests and create reports in a timely fashion.
• Ability to perform a variety of material tests in accordance with applicable ASTM and AASHTO standards for cementitious materials such as concrete, masonry grout and mortar, fireproofing and soil cement and lime mixtures.
• Responsible for supervising the laboratory technicians. These duties will include training, review, and delegation of resources as they pertain to the technicians.
• All calibration records shall be kept by the Lab Manager. Maintenance records and testing equipment inventories shall also be kept by the Supervisor. Maintenance and calibration schedules shall be kept and implemented by the Supervisor, as needed.
• Participating in the maintenance, procurement and auditing of the equipment is paramount to your success as a lab and shall be the responsibility of the supervisor.
• May be required to perform field services and training related to Materials Testing including soils, concrete, masonry and asphalt
• May be required to perform construction and geotechnical related laboratory testing based on workload and staffing.
• Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
• Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Development and/or maintenance of compliance programs for the above at proposed and operating facilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

• Demonstrated experience working in soils lab.
• ACI Certification required. NICET certification is a plus.
• High School/GED minimum education.
