Summary/Objective:
The shop fabrication/line lead position reports to the Shop Superintendent and/or their designee and performs the tasks/duties listed below.
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):
Fitter/Fabricator
Assembles and fits to drawing dimensions of all kinds of structural, plate, and mechanical materials into various assemblies. Must be proficient in all the skills of the trade. Receives instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders. Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation.
Layout, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as frames, bridge parts, beams, and columns.
Read and understand fabrication drawings.
Use dimensions and fitter skills to lay out and fit detailed parts accordingly.
Verify accuracy of fit up prior to sending to inspection.

Education/Experience:
Previous extensive experience is required for all positions above that will be acting in the capacity of leading a team of production employees.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 12 months of training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to read shop drawings.
Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
Experience in overhead crane operation is helpful.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Continual improvement – Must continually be growing one’s craft learning new tools and techniques to manage one’s self.
Certificates and Licenses:
Current welding and OSHA certifications are preferred.
