What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Paraprofessional for the 2025-2026 school year position at Patriot Preparatory Academy?
Summary description: This position has a key role in the classroom to aid the teacher in educating and helping students succeed in the classroom environment. Aides shall supervise instructional activities to help students understand lessons. To accomplish this, teacher aides may work with small groups of students or with one student at a time. Teacher aide duties may also include helping teachers with clerical tasks like taking attendance, making copies, entering grades, etc. Additionally, they may confer with teachers on student performance, and they may oversee students outside of the classroom during lunch, recess, dismissal, field trips, etc.
Primary responsibilities:
Curriculum/Planning
* Maintain accurate inventory of all student textbooks
* Collaborate with other teachers aides through professional development opportunities Instruction/Lessons
* Prepare instructional resources (electronic or paper) for students and distribute as necessary for student achievement
* Modify instructional practices/routines in accordance with students’ IEP, 504, ELL, or Gifted identifications.
* Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet all learning styles on a weekly basis
Classroom Management
* Create positive educational climate for students
* Positive behavior reward system may be implemented
* Follow all PPA policies to help ensure uniformity of the program
Professional Development
* Observe and collaborate with other teachers in the building multiple times throughout the year to for mutual growth/development in accordance with the peer observation program
* Attend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvement
* Reflect and evaluate lessons/policies/practices often
Additional Items
* Build a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the student
* Submit all required items to administration/office in a timely manner
* Return all communication to parents within 24 hours of receiving it (if applicable)
* Be supportive of the PPA team at all times, but especially when speaking to parents and students
* Communicate with supervisor in regards to staff not following policies of PPA
