The Senior Therapy Director is responsible for performing patient care duties of the Occupational or Physical Therapist Assistant (as appropriate to discipline). The Therapy Director ensures that the highest standard of rehabilitation services are delivered and maintained.
What you will do
- Directs and manages the daily clinical care provided by physical, occupational, and speech services in the respective facility.
- Responsible for staffing and coordinating patient assignments, therapy hours productivity, orientation and training, staff competency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. Monitors caseloads and ensures adequate staffing to meet patient care and operational needs.
- Manages departmental billing. Ensures therapists maintain consistent and timely documentation and that billing reflects treatment performed by individual therapists.
- Establishes an environment of safety and assures safe practices for the patients. Recognizes and implements accrediting body Patient Safety Goals and Quality Standards. Follows RHS policies and procedures and complying with regulatory agency requirements. Ensures team is prepared to recognize and respond timely and competently to emergency situations.
- Responsible for hiring, oversight, training and support of all team members, volunteers and/or students. Completes competency assessments for new team members and annually for all staff.
- Participates/oversees the planning and monitoring of the budget for defined areas to include appropriate resource allocation determination. Completes variance review, analysis, and action plans based on approved departmental expense and productivity budget. Shares/educates staff with updates in healthcare economics and public policy as it applies to the delivery of patient care.
- Performs patient care duties as needed in area of licensure or certification.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Occupational or Physical Therapist Assistant Program (Required)
Experience
- 1 year Recent relevant experience (Required)
- 1 year Supervisory experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
- Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) or
- License Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) or
