Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The Network Engineer implements and maintains communications infrastructure essential to Pattern’s business. The Network Engineer supports the Senior Manager of the IT\OT Network by ensuring compliance with existing policies, implementing firewall, routers and switch rules, and deploying monitoring technologies. This position reports to the Senior Manager of the IT\OT Network.
Key Accountabilities
Implementation of network architecture as designed by the Senior Manager, IT/OT Network
- Configuration and deployment (both on-site and remote) of firewalls, network switches, phones, and wireless infrastructure for both corporate offices and generation facilities
- Implementation leveraging a least-privilege model in support of both traditional corporate services (HTTP/S, SQL, DNS, Active Directory, VOIP, etc.) as well as common industrial control system services (DNP3, ICCP, Modbus, etc.)
- Configuration of redundant inter-site communications pathways in a heterogeneous environment
- Implementation of security patches and platform upgrades for networking equipment
- Integration of networking equipment with federated identity and access management platforms (Microsoft Active Directory, Kerberos, etc.)
Documentation and validation of infrastructure configuration
- Creation of accurate as-built/as-left documentation following all implementations and reconfigurations
- Auditing and review of actual network configurations against documentation
Security analysis and reporting of networking activity
- Collection and review of network activity history, privileged account usage, and other activities in support of active cybersecurity investigations/incidents
- Configuration of cryptographic ciphers/features in accordance with evolving policies and procedures
Operational and performance troubleshooting
- Identification and resolution of networking-related issues impacting service reliability (site-to-site VPN, SD-WAN, Dynamic Routing, ACLs)
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
Education and Work Experience
- 4-7 years of experience in network engineering, network design, and/or IP telephony
- Knowledge of key OT networking technologies including DNP3, TCP/IP, ICMP, and L2TP, among others is a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of NERC CIP Standards
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Networks, or related disciplines is a plus
Additional Requirements
- Certifications in relevant networking technologies such as: CCNA Routing & Switching, CompTia Networking , or experience in similar field
- 30-50% Travel Requirements (US/Canada/Puerto Rico)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Technical Skills
- Excellent knowledge of networking concepts like IP networking, TCP, DNS, VLANs, IPSec tunnelling, NAT, ARP, BGP, the OSI Model, packet inspection, QoS, link aggregation, SD-WAN, etc.
- Experience with platforms such as Cisco IOS, Cisco ASA FirePower, Palo Alto, Fortigate Firewalls, etc.
- Proficiency in network architecture within public cloud environments, including but not limited to Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $135,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
