The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $120,200.00 - $150,300.00

- Serves as the primary authority and consultant for all aspects of data engineering, setting benchmarks for excellence.
- Leads the research, design, and development of a secure, resilient, and self-healing data architecture foundation, including comprehensive data warehousing, data integration pipelines, and data-centric software components.
- Establishes and upholds high standards, best practices, and processes for the development, analysis, testing, and optimization of big data solutions.
- Spearheads the creation, continuous improvement, and efficient management of ELT data pipelines, from their inception to production deployment.
- Champions the ethical use, security, and privacy of both Patterson’s and customers’ data, ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
- Enforces rigorous data integration and data quality standards across all development initiatives, in line with organizational policies and industry best practices.
- Leads root cause analysis efforts and rectifies technological, procedural, or capability deficiencies.
- Collaborates with architects, data scientists, data analysts, business partners, and developers in an agile environment to deliver cutting-edge data solutions.
- Offers technical mentorship and guidance, fostering skill development within the Data Services team.
- Evaluates and introduces new technologies that address business challenges, creating prototypes to demonstrate their potential impact.
- Represents Patterson Dental at industry events, sharing insights and learning from peers.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within data engineering.
- Proficiency in various relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB).
- Solid experience in cloud-based platforms, preferably Azure, and its associated technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse).
- In-depth knowledge of data modeling, data mining, master data management, data integration, data architecture, data virtualization, data warehousing, and data quality techniques.
- Expertise in SQL, modern programming languages (e.g., Python, R), and data pipeline/data science libraries.
- Familiarity with healthcare data regulations and security standards (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA).
- Proficiency in Git, CI/CD practices (preferably Azure DevOps), and software development tools for tracking incidents, version control, release management, and testing.
- Experience with popular data discovery, analytics, and BI tools for semantic-layer-based data discovery.
- Adept in agile methodologies, capable of applying DevOps principles and Data Operations practices to improve data pipeline management and automation/
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at managing various stakeholders.
- Experience attending and speaking at industry events.
- Experience explaining complex concepts to a nontechnical audience.

- Travel to corporate sites is periodically required (Quarterly or so)
