What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR (2025/26 school year) position at Patterson Joint Unified School District?
Under the supervision and direction of the Patterson High School Principal and the Director of Career Force Navigation and Workforce Preparation, the CTE Cosmetology Instructor is responsible for instruction and training that will prepare students for the State of California Cosmetologist's License. Students learn theoretical and practical applications in hair cutting, styling, coloring, tinting and bleaching, permanent waving, facials, manicuring, and other cosmetic services. Course requires 1600 hours of training necessary to take the California Board of Cosmetology examination. * Valid California Designated Subjects Vocational Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Cosmetology. To qualify for a vocational credential, the minimum requirement is verification by the previous employer(s) of five years of full-time, paid or non-paid, work experience directly related to each subject to be named on the credential. Forty-eight semester units or the equivalent, or post-secondary vocational trainin grelated to the subject named on the credential and verified by official transcript may be substituted for a maximum of two of the five years of experience. One year of the required experience shall be within three years immediately preceding the issuance of the credential.
* Three years of full-time work experience in the field of cosmetology is required.
* Education in teaching is required.
* State licensure in cosmetology is required.
* A valid California driver license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance program is required.
