Weekend Warrior- Preventative Maintenance Technician

Location: Clayton, Iowa
Employment Type: Part-time, Permanent
Wage: $31.00/hour starting wage
Schedule: Saturdays 6:30 am-4:30 pm required flexibility to work up to 29 hours maximum.

Position Summary

Pattison Company is looking for a Preventative Maintenance Technician to work Saturdays from 6:30 am-4:30 pm primarily. This is a part-time position where you can work additional hours if you would like during the week or in evenings up to a maximum of 29 hours. Saturday preventative maintenance is crucial to proactive maintenance when processes are minimal onsite and repairs can be done with our slower production. Due to the flexibility, higher pay and part-time status; company health benefits & paid time off will not be offered. You will be eligible for the Company 401k program and our company match if you elect to participate!

1 week Monday- Friday of MSHA Safety Training will be required for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Preventative Maintenance Technician, you will:

• Inspect and lubricate bearings on conveyance systems.
• Repair mechanical breakdowns, including bearings, conveyor belts, and more.
• Perform daily maintenance in both wet and dry plant environments.
• Read and interpret blueprints for maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with safety and guarding issues in plant operations.
• Respond to process line breakdowns and perform immediate repairs.
• Identify, locate, and retrieve parts from inventory.
• Complete maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
• Document completed work in daily reports.
• Perform housekeeping duties in assigned areas of the plant.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Ability to work in varying weather conditions on uneven, sandy, and rocky surfaces
• Must be able to:
  • Stand for 6-12 hours and perform physical tasks such as bending and stooping
  • Work up to 12-hour shifts
  • Climb on and off equipment and ladders
  • Wear a half-mask respirator for extended periods
  • Lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance
  • Accurately handle numerical analysis for troubleshooting.
  • Work at heights and in damp, dimly lit environments
  • Proficiently speak and write in English
  • Bend, stoop, climb ladders, and access confined spaces.
• Strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and commitment to workplace safety

Education & Work Experience

• High school diploma preferred, but not required.
• 2-year technical degree or relevant prior experience preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

• MSHA Part 48 certification required (Training available on-site).
• All Pattison employees must hold a valid Driver’s License.
