Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an SMT Manufacturing Engineer located in Gaithersburg, MD. The SMT Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for implementing manufacturing engineering strategies and collaborating with industrial and mechanical engineers to ensure efficient production. The role will also involve hands-on work with assembly equipment and optimizing processes for effective production. In addition, the SMT Manufacturing Engineer shall:
- Develop and maintain assembly processes including oven profiling and process chemical evaluation and selection.
- Specify, install, train operators, and program all automated process equipment (SMT, AOI).
- Oversee all equipment maintenance
- Generate assembly documentation.
- Perform design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
- Provide board panelization inputs and reviews of bare board manufacturing requirements.
- Coordinate facility requirements including layout related to equipment operation and maintenance.
- Continually improve assembly processes.
- Develop and maintain standards and routings in the ERP system.
- Implement engineering changes into production documentation as required.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing Processes and Manufacturing Engineering skills
- Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience in a production/ manufacturing environment in an engineering capacity
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in automated electronic assembly process engineering including at least 1 year of programming SMT equipment
- Hands-on knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing and assembly are required
- Knowledge and familiarity of ISO9001, IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other STEM related field
