Description: Elementary Mathematics/Science Specialist - Bridgeway Elementary School - 2025-2026 School Year (One-Year Title I Funded Position)

Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the school principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through the implementation of district-approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; provide intervention supports to students in small groups in the area of mathematics; plan, collaborate and share progress with classroom teachers; address specific educational needs of students by creating a safe, flexible and engaging learning environment; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Functions:

• Promotes a classroom environment conducive to individualized learning and small group instruction.
• Develops science and mathematics lessons utilizing instructional materials consistent with district curriculum which result in high quality learning experiences.
• Conducts assessment, including progress monitoring of student learning, and modifies instructional methods based on individual student needs.
• Supports the educational programs and services of the district by working collaboratively with teachers.
• Keeps accurate and complete records regarding achievement, and attendance as required by the district/building procedures/policies.
• Evaluates student achievement and assists with placing students in appropriate intervention services.
• Meets regularly with the principal and instructional specialist to report on academic progress and action plans.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
• Ensures student behavior conforms to the school/district policies and establishes/maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, department/district meetings, and/or by conducting research.
• Coordinates with other staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

Travel Requirements:

• Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
• Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
• Ability to use learning software applications as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

• Missouri Elementary B-3, K-8 or 1-6 teaching certification

Education:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

FLSA Status: Exempt
