Position Purpose :
- Under the general supervision of the school principal(s), to develop students' skills and competence in science.
Essential Functions :
Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to challenge students and best utilize the available time for instruction.Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress.Modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs and conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.Continues to acquire professional knowledge in the educational field by attending seminars, professional development, workshops, department / district meetings, and / or by conducting research.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student learning and attendance as required by district / building procedures.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents / guardians.Ensures that student behavior conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.Coordinates with other staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Selects appropriate learning materials / instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.Additional Duties :

Travel Requirements :
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents / guardians.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.Qualifications :
Missouri General / Unified Science 5-9 certificationCertification in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) or willing to earn certification in PLTW courses preferredEducation :
Bachelors / masters degree from an accredited college or university.FLSA Status : Exempt
