Loader/Weighmaster

Job Overview
Patuxent Materials, Inc. is seeking an experienced loader and weighmaster. Duties include scaling out & ticket management, cash handling, customer relations and movement of materials. This position will be required to use computer systems related to inventory and scales and prepare and operate heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of experience working in a scale house or in a closely related field, one (1) year of experience operating heavy equipment, and a Diploma or GED.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Use scale and ticketing system to weigh incoming/outgoing loads and charge customers appropriately.
• Prepare daily reports for inbound and outbound customer traffic.
• Perform accurate cash and credit card handling duties.
• Answer customer inquiries and provide information related to operations and various types of materials.
• Assist with ensuring safe and efficient operation of the scales.
• Identify hazardous, unauthorized, or unacceptable incoming materials.
• Maneuver motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials (Loaders)
• Maintain an orderly and clean site by following the site plan, establishing individual piles of material, and generally keeping the site in an orderly state
• Comply with safety rules/codes as stated by governmental and regulatory agencies
• Report injuries and other accidents to the foreman and prepare accident or injury reports as required
• Follow environmental regulations
• Communicate with coworkers to understand project specifications, as needed
• Advise the foreman of needed repairs for equipment
• Provide suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency

• Accurately calculates weight and pricing costs in the event of electronic scale and software failure
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses
• Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines
