Reports to: Lower School Principal & Head of School
Hours: 1.0 FTE (193-day position), Exempt
Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership, coaching, monitoring, and support of school-wide comprehensive literacy efforts.
- Model and promote the use of a Science of Reading.
- Provide coaching and professional development support to classroom teachers in evidence-based practices in the five essential components of reading.
- Use assessment data to track all student growth in reading & writing.
- Contribute as a team member to the school's MTSS Process.
- Provide literacy expertise to the School Improvement Team.
- Teach small group literacy support classes for students with significant reading difficulty.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of elementary school programs.
- Co-plan and co-facilitate with principal and other educators professional development in the area of literacy.
- Provide diagnostic assessments and recommendations for students with significant literacy needs.
- Provide recommendations for supplies and materials to support literacy programming.
- Collaboratively plan and lead school-wide events to promote literacy, such as reading week and summer learning loss prevention activities.
- Contribute significantly to a culture of high achievement.
- Attend to the social and emotional growth of students in relation to their academic success.
- Maintain a positive, strengths-based approach in supporting student behavior.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
- Valid Rhode Island Teacher Certificate required
- Reading Specialist/Consultant
- National background check (after offer)
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Salary : $45,636 - $85,955
