Paul DeLima Coffee is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Manager. This role plays a key part in maintaining and elevating our food safety and quality systems, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance Manager will be a hands-on leader in food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance initiatives. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct internal audits of food safety and quality programs in alignment with SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification standards
- Develop, implement, and monitor HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plans to ensure proactive food safety risk management
- Support and maintain compliance with USDA Organic certification requirements and documentation
- Participate in the development and execution of Food Defense plans to safeguard the facility from intentional contamination risks
- Ensure ongoing compliance with required regulations, as well as customer-specific requirements
- Coordinate and maintain food safety documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly production and quality records
- Lead and document corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) when deviations or non-conformances are identified
- Collaborate with the QA team to develop and revise SOPs, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and training materials
- Conduct and assist with employee training on food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and quality protocols
- Support daily quality checks on the production floor and assist in sensory evaluations (cuppings) of green coffee and finished products
- Lead weekly production and safety meetings focused on continuous improvement and proactive risk mitigation
- Travel between two local facilities (<15-minute drive) to support QA initiatives
Key Qualifications
- PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification preferred, or ability to obtain
- Experience working in an SQF-certified or GFSI-compliant facility preferred
- Solid understanding of HACCP principles, food safety plans, and risk-based preventive controls
- Familiarity with Organic certification processes and record-keeping
- Knowledge of Food Defense strategies, vulnerability assessments, and mitigation techniques
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfortable working with digital documentation and spreadsheets
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment
