Position Summary
Uses Computer-Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) equipment to support engineers by developing routine layouts, detail drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Details include all views and dimensions. Maintains drawings and information regarding changes to the database. Makes simple decisions but refers most questions/problems to engineers.

Essential Functions
  • Uses computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop and modify designs.
  • Creates and revises production drawings.
  • Read and interpret documents and interact with individuals at all levels. Utilize practical communication skills.
  • Make a final sketch of the proposed drawing, checking the dimensions of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure or project.
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Draws finished designs from sketches.
  • Understand and follow company-established CAD Standard procedures for standard drawing procedures for projects.
  • Willingness to keep updated with CAD software and training to improve CAD efficiency and accuracy.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for drawings in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Meet established man-hour budgets while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality of work.
  • Must review all work for accuracy and completeness before submitting it to the engineer.
  • Plot drawing files, make prints or copies, and assemble documents as directed.
  • Work effectively both independently and as a team member.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • May be assigned specific responsibilities within the company, as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures in the current PJF Employee Policy and Procedure Manual.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Exceptional knowledge in Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, and email.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Ability to be a team player.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate degree in computer-aided drafting.
  • 2 years of equivalent experience and training.

  • This job is largely a sedentary role, however, standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, stooping or kneeling, talking, and hearing are required.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
  • Overtime may be necessary as workloads dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and holidays.
  • Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house and on-site client meetings, it is essential that the work be performed in the office and during regular business hours.
