Job Title: Athletic – Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (Not a Full-Time position)
Job Summary:
An assistant coach's responsibility will be to develop, train, and educate students in their respective sports to be the best Christian athletes they can be. The assistant coach will fill this crucial role through practice, prayer, and discipline. This role is dedicated to serving as a positive role model for student-athletes within a vibrant atmosphere that pursues academic and athletic excellence. Establishing professional relationships with student-athletes, staff, alumni, and the broader community is essential to effectively promote the university and its athletics program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Strives to embody a consistent daily journey with Jesus Christ through speech, actions, and attitude, serving as a model of Christ-like character both on and off the court.
· Before every game, the coach or the athlete leads a prayer as a vital part of the preparation process.
· The individual is accountable for managing all equipment throughout the practices and games, including distributing uniforms to athletes and promptly reporting any issues with the uniforms.
· Responsible for assisting the Men’s Head Basketball Coach with the overall management of the men’s basketball program, including operations, regional team travel, recruiting, equipment, coaching, scheduling, and budget.
· Assists in the daily preparation and coordination of team practices.
· Assists with overseeing the academic progress and success of student-athletes.
· Assists with social media and content creation for the men’s basketball program.
· May assist in maintaining statistics tracking performance standards.
· Assist with fundraising and community outreach events.
· Manage and coordinate manager schedules and responsibilities
· Additional responsibilities to be assigned by the Men’s Head Basketball Coach or Athletic Director.
Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate professionally, diplomatically, empathetically, and tactfully effectively.
· Recruiting and compliance-related documentation.
· Successfully lead, recruit, and manage people.
· Apply acceptable teaching, coaching, and mentoring techniques.
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree required.
· Two years of collegiate basketball coaching experience preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, staff, and coaches.
