Job Description
The Non-Ferrous Laborer is responsible for supporting the Non-Ferrous Sorter in sorting and processing non-ferrous materials, including aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel. The laborer will also be responsible for helping prepare materials for sale and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Non-Ferrous Sorter in sorting and processing non-ferrous materials.
- Prepare materials for sale by segregating and cleaning them.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
- Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors to encourage repeat business and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Competencies
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a scrap yard or related industry preferred but not required.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
- Proficiency in basic math skills and computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
