1st shift hours : Monday thru Saturday 8am - 5pm (40 hours a week with some overtime, usually 1 day scheduled off during the week, Closed on Sunday)
Starting Pay : $15 / hr , depending on experience
Job Description
The Non-Ferrous Laborer is responsible for supporting the Non-Ferrous Sorter in sorting and processing non-ferrous materials, including aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel. The laborer will also be responsible for helping prepare materials for sale and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Non-Ferrous Sorter in sorting and processing non-ferrous materials.
Prepare materials for sale by segregating and cleaning them.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors to encourage repeat business and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Competencies
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a scrap yard or related industry preferred but not required.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
Proficiency in basic math skills and computer skills.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in various weather conditions.
