Non Ferrous Yard Laborer

Job Description

1st shift hours: Monday thru Saturday 8am - 5pm (40 hours a week, possible overtime, usually 1 day scheduled off during the week, Closed on Sunday)

Starting Pay: $15/hr , depending on experience

Job Description

The Non-Ferrous Laborer is responsible for supporting the Non-Ferrous Sorter in sorting and processing non-ferrous materials, including aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel. The laborer will also be responsible for helping prepare materials for sale and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Non-Ferrous Sorter in sorting and processing non-ferrous materials.
• Prepare materials for sale by segregating and cleaning them.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
• Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors to encourage repeat business and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
  
  

Competencies

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a scrap yard or related industry preferred but not required.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
• Proficiency in basic math skills and computer skills.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
