Salary : $80,000 - $85,000 annual salary
Description :
The Director of Campus Safety administers the College's policies to protect students, staff, and College property; supervises the College's Campus Safety staff; directs vehicle use and parking, and organizes security programs and training as appropriate.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Initiates and maintains overall responsibility for the development and implementation of approved procedures for the safety and security of students, college employees, college property and others.
- Acts as liaison between Campus Safety and all campus departments, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, fire departments and code enforcement agencies.
- Collaborates with the President in providing Emergency Management oversight.
- Coordinates campus safety education programs.
- Collaborates with the Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator in ensuring compliance with federal and state reporting requirements, including, but not limited to Clery Act reporting.
- Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates Campus Safety personnel and monitors training to endure safety standards are maintained and all officers are trained, certified, and licensed according to The Security Guard Act of 1992.
- Develops and maintains a banned list for all persons not allowed on Paul Smith's College property and / or not allowed in College buildings.
- Responsible for the issuance of College ID's.
- Initiates and maintains procedures which govern the campus motor vehicle policies, including parking and traffic safety.
- Maintains appropriate records and documentation, as well as schedules duty roster and prepares information for staff payroll for the approval of the Dean of Students.
- Assists with investigations of accidents, violations of The Community Guide / Student Handbook, and other matters at the direction of the Dean of Students.
- Provide leadership to address in the safety needs of an increasingly diverse campus environment.
- Works regular shifts and substitutes for other Campus Safety personnel as required to maintain staffing levels and to ensure the safety and security of the college and its students.
- Maintain regular contact with Facilities and the offices in Student Life, including Residence Life, Student Wellness, Title IX and Community Standards, to identify problem areas and make suggestions for improvement.
- Maintains good working relationships with all constituencies and departments on campus, as well as local and state police and Fire Departments.
- Participates in college committees as assigned, such as Emergency Management Planning Group, Incident Response Management Team, Advisory Committee on Campus Safety, Behavior Assessment Team, and Safety Net..
- Participates in the planning and staging of special events, i.e., orientation(s), family weekend, graduation, open house(s), etc., as appropriate.
- Assists with other duties as needed or assigned.
