The MA will work closely with all of the practice staff to provide high quality patient care and ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently. This position will work directly with patients performing administrative and clinical functions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be non-judgmental, and be adaptable to a dynamic environment. PTG is a rapidly growing medical clinic serving communities in North Carolina. PTG’s mission is to form trusting relationships between our staff, patients, and the community in order to provide the highest quality of care possible to all patients that present for opiate use disorder treatment.
Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for interacting with patients calmly and clearly on multiple levels including interviewing patients, recording medical history, gathering specimens for toxicology tests, and discussing insurance coverage.
- Willing and able to assist the medical provider(s) as needed and work under their direction.
- Assist with holding patients accountable in their journey to recovery by enforcing clinic policies and communicating with patients as needed.
- Assist with administrative functions including insurance eligibility verification, verifying counseling, and gathering community resources.
- Track and update various data sets using EHR reports, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures including cleaning and disinfecting policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Registered Medical Assistant qualifications preferred.
- 2-3 years of healthcare experience preferred.
- Medical assistant certification required from an accredited organization.
- Strong experience with information technology, Microsoft Office products, and electronic medical record systems required.
- Must be willing to float to a second location east of Charlotte on occasion.
- Must be able to work in US legally.
- Fluency in English required. Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Job Type: This is a full time position responsible for 40 hours per week.
