Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Composites Engineer to join their engineering team at their 148,000 square foot facility. This is a newly created role due to company growth, focused on designing, analyzing, and manufacturing advanced composite materials and structures. This position is critical in driving the development of high-performance, lightweight, and durable composite components for aerospace applications. π

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop composite materials, structures, and components for various applications (25%)
- Interface with customers to understand requirements and deliver solutions (25%)
- Conduct testing and build prototype parts to validate designs (25%)
- Conduct material selection and testing to ensure optimal performance and durability
- Utilize CAD and FEA software for structural analysis and design optimization
- Oversee composite manufacturing processes, including layup, molding, curing, and NDT Inspection
- Develop and document manufacturing processes, design guidelines, and best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and material performance issues
- Conduct failure analysis and recommend design modifications as necessary
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in composite materials and manufacturing techniques
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with composites (academic projects considered)
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Understanding of material properties including fiber reinforcements, resins, and adhesives
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Must be a US citizen due to industry requirements
Preferred Skills:
- 3D modeling and simulation experience
- Proficiency in mechanical analysis and design
- Experience with SolidWorks
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, ISO, and FAA regulations
- Experience with additive manufacturing and advanced composites
