The Civil Superintendent oversees all aspects of civil operations on construction projects, ensuring that the work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This role requires a strong understanding of civil techniques, materials, equipment, and project management.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Project Management:

• Manage daily operations on civil projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating work activities
• Ensure that civil projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
• Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance

Supervision:

• Lead, supervise, and direct the activities of civil crews, including equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors
• Provide training and guidance to crew members to ensure high standards of work and safety
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor work progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations

Quality Control:

• Ensure that all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations
• Address any issues that arise during the civil process and implement corrective actions as necessary
• Coordinate with quality control teams to perform inspections and testing of materials and completed work

Safety Management:

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members adhere to safety regulations and practices
• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections regularly
• Investigate and report any accidents, incidents, or near-misses on the job site

Budget/Resource Management:

• Manage project budgets, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies needed for paving projects
• Achieve maximum efficiency by optimizing the use of labor, equipment, and materials

Communication:

• Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers and clients
• Prepare and submit progress reports, project updates, and other documentation as required
• Attend project meetings and provide input on planning, scheduling, and problem-solving

Job Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred, but not required

Certifications:

• OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Training Certification
• First Aid and CPR Certification
• Equipment Operator Certifications
• Valid driver’s license

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in excavation, site utility, paving, asphalt, or related construction work
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of civil techniques, materials, and equipment
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and best practices
• Bilingual – Spanish preferable but not required

Working Conditions:

• Primarily works on outdoor construction sites, exposed to various weather conditions
• May require working extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on project deadlines
• Physical demands may include lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and operating heavy machinery
• Salary based on experience level
• Company provided iPhone, or phone plan reimbursement of up to $60.00 per month
• Company provided vehicle
• Company provided laptop and monitor
• 10 vacation days and 5 sick days (per calendar year)
