Pavement Specialties of Idaho, Inc is a construction service company and is looking to hire dedicated construction laborers to join our team. We are looking for candidates with a desire to grow to join our excavation division in the upcoming season. Successful applicants will lead a ground crew in the completion of projects under the supervision of the excavation division manager; and operate heavy equipment including excavator, skid steer, skip loader, roller, etc. Must be willing to help crew on ground if needed. Experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Operate excavation equipment to complete projects per plan and quality as instructed by excavation division manager.
· Supervise ground crew in the completion of tasks.
· Establish grade via laser and grade rod to ensure proper elevation, slope, and drainage per plan.
· Must maintain an acute sense of awareness to jobsite hazards and take all necessary steps to prevent unnecessary damage to property or key features, i.e., curbs, structures, vehicles, and underground/overhead utilities.
· Able to read civil plans and maintain an attention to detail to ensure all scopes of work are completed on schedule and in accordance with all drawings, specifications, and pre-designated standards of quality.
· Maintain appropriate communication with supervisors and other contractors to ensure timely scheduling of all work activities and any associated inspections.
· Responsible for verifying scope of work and site conditions match job card prior to, and immediately following all construction activities.
· Responsible for completion of daily equipment preventative maintenance checks, and coordination with shop manager for regularly scheduled servicing.
·Responsible for ensuring that all crew members and work activities maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards for excavation.
· Complete understanding of all aspects of the excavation industry including preparatory work for asphalt or concrete, trenching for underground utilities, grades, drainage, minimum slope requirements, aggregate classifications, compaction, and other details related to excavation.
Requirements:
· One to two years of heavy equipment experience is preferred.
·At least one year of experience operating an excavator is a plus.
· Knowledge of road construction or civil site construction is required.
· Must have good hand eye coordination and cognitive safety recognition while operating machinery.
· Must be willing to work overtime, evenings, and weekends when necessary.
· Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust.
· Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, customers, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
· Must be a team player.
· Workers must be punctual and reliable.
· Ability to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
· Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
· Job requires stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
· Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test!
· Requires lifting of up to 50 lbs.
