Position Summary : We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee and manage our financial operations. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our financial reports, compliance with nonprofit regulations, and the establishment of sound financial practices. This role is crucial in supporting our mission and maintaining the financial health of our organization.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Management :
Oversee all accounting operations including A / R, A / P, and payroll.
Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the CEO / COO and Board of Directors.
Audit Preparation :
Lead the preparation for external audits and ensure timely completion.
Coordinate with auditors and prepare audit schedules and reconciliations.
Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
Compliance :
Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and nonprofit financial standards.
Manage grant financial reporting and ensure adherence to funding guidelines.
Monitor and implement changes in accounting and regulatory standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting :
Assist in the development and management of the annual budget.
Provide financial forecasts and variance analysis.
Support program managers in understanding their financial performance.
System Implementation :
Establish and optimize financial systems and processes.
Implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of accounting / finance experience, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
Proven experience in audit preparation and managing compliance.
Skills :
Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
