Pet Bather / Groomer Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pet Bather to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a strong commitment to providing exceptional grooming services. As a Pet Bather, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of pets while delivering top-notch bathing experiences for our clients. This role requires both technical skills in pet handling, and a compassionate approach to animal care.

Responsibilities

• Perform grooming services including brushing, bathing, clipping nails, cleaning ears and drying pets of various breeds of dogs and other pets.
• Assess the condition of pets' coats and skin, providing recommendations for care as needed.
• Handle animals safely and comfortably, ensuring their well-being throughout the grooming process.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bathing area, including proper sanitation of tools and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs, behaviors, and any concerns observed during grooming.
• Provide additional services such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal glands, and teeth brushing as required.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
• Stay informed about the latest bathing techniques, trends, and products.
• Responsible for keeping equipment clean and cleaning between every animal.
• Assist in safely restraining animals for grooming
• Keep records of clients
• Must have a team work attitude
• Maintain a clean work area and help with cleaning duties at the salon.
• Be comfortable with following all the rules and procedures.
• Be okay with every bath being looked over and assisting in looking over grooms.
• Bathers work a full-time schedule with lunch breaks or a split shift.
• Must be able to handle a Large Dog!
• Must be able to maintain a professional attitude with customers and adhere to a work dress code of scrubs with a smock (we provide smock) on top of scrubs/work clothes.
• Must have great hygiene and people skills.
• Must be available to work Monday through Saturday.
• We are a Vape and Smoke free facility inside and out.
• Scrubs with a smock is mandatory with close-toe shoes.

Requirements

• Must be able to handle and bathe large dogs.
• Proven experience in pet bathing or related fields such as animal care or veterinary assistance is preferred.
• Strong skills in dog handling, animal handling, and heavy lifting are essential.
• Knowledge of dog training techniques is a plus.
• Experience with equine care or kennel management is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners professionally and compassionately.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• A genuine love for animals and commitment to their health and happiness.
• Paw Avenue bathers are all W-2 employees, no 1099’s will be considered for hire.
• Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.

As a Pet Bather, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of pets while providing exceptional grooming services. You will be responsible for bathing various breeds of dogs ensuring they look and feel their best. This position requires a passion for animal care and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to pet owners.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $24,880.00 - $34,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
