What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time kennel attendant position at PawSafe Animal Rescue?
Part-time kennel attendant needed in Eastford CT to help keep our puppies clean and kennel disease-free. Must be able to work independently, be over 21, have independent transportation, LOVE PUPPIES, and want to make a difference.
We are seeking a part-time person available all of the following hours.
AM --Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm
Other shifts are often available to pick up as well.
Specific Job Duties:
- Clean, maintain and sanitize indoor and outdoor kennels runs.
- Provide each animal with food and water following approved feeding protocols.
- Administer daily medications and treatments.
- Dispose of animal waste
- Clean other shelter areas. Sweep, take out garbage, etc.
- Clean and maintain shelter equipment: i.e. carriers, leashes, brushes, etc.
- Wash food and water bowls and put them away in an orderly fashion.
- Help as needed with the check-in of new animals and inspection.
- Follow proper safety measures and procedures when using chemicals and cleaning supplies
- Help with washing, drying and folding of laundry.
- Willing to be able to work with the public to meet animals in our care and learn to use the software system to complete the adoption
- Must be able to work independently with and without others on-premise.
Please know that this position is physically demanding. Approximately two to four hours each day are dedicated to deep cleaning of kennels and animal areas.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Prefer mature, responsible person with a positive attitude and good work ethic
- Should enjoy working with dogs and cats
- Must have a reliable vehicle
- Able to read, write, understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Able to humanely handle animals under various circumstances
- Able to work harmoniously with other employees and volunteers
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift and carry 40 lbs bags and boxes
- Able to bend and squat regularly
- Able to handle large animals (up to 100 lbs dog)
- Must be punctual, reliable, and responsible.
- Refrain from foul language in the workplace

Work Environment:
Will work primarily on-site at the kennel, with the occasion for off-site special and mobile events. There is a potential of exposure to parasites and infectious diseases that can be carried and transmitted by animals. Work with cleaning/disinfecting solutions typically used in an animal shelter

Compensation
Starts at $18/hour. Four week probation period.
PawSafe is a 501c3 Animal Rescue. We strongly believe in our mission of saving lives and enhancing the care of all animals in our shelter while waiting for adoption.
