What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) position at Pawsome Vet Care?
Pawsome Vet Care is a brand new, veterinarian-owned, small animal startup clinic in Enfield, CT, looking for a credentialed veterinary technician for our opening day team. Our mission is to provide veterinary care that feels better—for our team, our patients, and our clients. We want all members of our team to feel confident working throughout our hospital, including managing phones and reception, exam rooms, and patient care, to allow for daily variety and flexibility.
What we’re looking for:
- A desire to help foster and establish a healthy, collaborative team culture, including assisting in training new team members as we grow
- At least 2 years clinical experience
- Up to date Connecticut technician licensure
- Experience and comfort managing anesthesia, performing dentistry and dental radiography, surgical prep, and assisting in surgery
- Excellent technical skills with patient restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, managing fluids, and administering injectable, oral, and topical medications
- Ability to independently obtain quality radiographs
- Experience with running laboratory equipment and preparing samples for send out and for veterinarian review
- Comfort and willingness to assist in client education and facilitate thorough communication
- Adequate computer skills to manage Shepherd, our cloud-based software
- Phone skills including the scheduling of appointments, medication requests, phone triage of sick patients, and communication with other hospitals
- Willingness to cross train and work in reception, exam rooms, surgery, dentistry, and patient care
- Fear FreeTM Certification or willingness to obtain said certification (paid for by us)
- Ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lb unassisted
Bonus skills:
- Competence in a language other than English, with an emphasis on ASL and Spanish
- Comfort with ultrasound
- Willingness to assist with social media and marketing
