What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinarian position at PawsWatch?
PawsWatch seeks a part time veterinarian for its Johnston, RI Community Cat Clinic, 1-2 days per week. This is a non-owner based practice which is a part of PawsWatch, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization founded in 1998, whose purpose is to care for community cats. Our shelter
- adopts out tame cats and kittens,
- performs TNR,
- has a barn cat program for feral cats that cannot go back to their neighborhood,
- helps other shelters with their veterinary care at a reduced rate,
- treats and cares for sick and injured cats.
If you like shelter medicine, love cats, and want to commit fully to helping community cats, this is a great opportunity. Our staff of two veterinarians and two vet techs is responsible for the wellbeing of the 50 (max.) cats in our shelter plus the TNR and outside shelter cats that come through our doors.
Fully equipped surgery suite includes anesthesia machine with monitoring equipment, dental equipment, microscope, autoclave, SNAP Pro, ultrasound. Surgeries include high volume spay/neuter, all soft tissue surgeries, dentals, some amputations, enucleations, kitten wellness checks, hospital and hospice care. PawsWatch takes no-kill very seriously. HQHVSNS experience, DEA license, good feral cat handling skills, and a big heart required. Pay commensurate with experience.
