EXEMPLARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated by the administration.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district, which provides stimulation for a pre-school student population.
- Prepares for classes assigned.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and required professional development related to preschool.
- Cooperates with other member of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the board academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relation with others.
- Provides for his/her own professional growth through a developed Professional Growth Plan requiring 20 hours of Professional Development on Workplace Competencies. In addition attends summer trainings.
- Consults regularly with speech language therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and adaptive physical education teacher regarding the needs of students.
- Develops and writes Individual Education Plans based on students’ needs and attend IEP meetings.
- May train and supervise teacher aides.
- Toilet trains those students in need.
- Plans and implements classroom curriculum.
- May develop behavior charts to encourage good behavior.
- Perform other professional duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in a preschool setting
- Experience in working with students from urban area
- Desire to work with preschool children
- Experience with diversity preferred.
- Successful experience teaching.
