Plumber

Building Maintenance: Master Plumber position provides plumbing services to all school department buildings, specifically identifying repair and/or replacement needs and ensuring compliance with accessibility and safety codes/regulations. This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of plumbing systems to determine the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems and repairs. 

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses failures in plumbing/irrigation systems to identify repair and/or replacement needs. 

• Responsible for installing plumbing systems and fixtures (e.g., hot water heaters, drinking fountains, etc.), providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities. 

• Fabricate equipment parts to meet specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts. Inspect buildings and facilities to evaluate conditions, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance. 

• Regularly informs the Facilities Administration staff verbally and in writing to document the progress and status of projects (e.g., work order status, activity logs, etc.) 

• Maintains and transports tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure the availability of materials required at a job site. 

• Requests equipment and supplies to maintain Inventory and ensure the availability of Items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair. 

• Responsible for meeting with contractors for upcoming projects, pricing, or review of issues related to equipment and fixtures. 

• Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey and/or gather 

• information required to perform job functions. 

• Responds to emergencies during and after hours to resolve immediate plumbing concerns. 

• As directed, perform plowing and snow remova! operations 

• Ability to perform other duties assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Facilities to meet the specific needs of the Pawtucket School Department and its students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent 

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license 

• Possession of State of Rhode Island Journeyman's Plumber license 

• 2 years of experience as a Plumber 

• Proficiency in working with computers 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Associate's Degree 

• Previous experience in the school department setting

• Frequently required to stand, sit and walk. 

• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl 

• Frequently required to talk and hear 

• Must be able to feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, reach, and stoop/kneel/crouch Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 75 pounds 

• Must have clarity of vision, precise hand-eye coordination 

• The work environment is typically within school buildings; the employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions
